A 20-year-old Chechen who allegedly
stabbed to death a teacher at a school in the northern French
town of Arras shouting Allah is Great early Friday evokes the
ghosts of the past, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said
later Friday.
What happened this morning in France "is the first episode that
can be traced back to what is happening (in Israel)," he said,
recalling that several injuries were also reported in Arras in
what was described as an "emulation" of the bloody Hamas attack
on Israel Saturday.
"The stabbing to the cry of Allah Akbar evokes not very old
ghosts. They are stirrings that may occur but cannot always be
anticipated".
Piantedosi was speaking during his lectio magistralis at the
seventh edition of the 'Sine Cura' award organised by the Campus
Bio-Medico University in Rome.
