King Charles IIi said on a visit to
Italy Tuesday that he was praying for Pope Francis as the
88-year-old Argentine pontiff recovers from pneumonia.
"I pray for the Pope", Charles III said while meeting with
representatives of various faiths during the garden party with
the British community at Villa Wolkonsky, the residence of the
British ambassador to Rome, held in honor of the state visit to
Italy of the sovereign and Queen Camilla.
The original program of the visit also included a stop in the
Vatican and an audience with Pope Francis, an appointment then
postponed due to the health conditions of the Pontiff.
Francis spent 38 days in a Rome hospital and is now undergoing a
two months long convalescence.
