Spain's Carlos Alcaraz made a strong
start to his Italian Open campaign, beating Serbian Dusan
Lajovic 6-3 6-3 in Rome on Friday to cruise into the third
round.
Excitement is high at the Foro Italico for the return to action
of Italy's world number one Jannik Sinner after a three-month
doping ban.
The 23-year-old will face 70th-ranked Mariano Navone of
Argentina.
Navone, 24, beat Italy's 18-year-old world 323 Federico Cinà 6-3
6-3 in the first round of the Internazionali d'Italia on
Thursday.
South Tyrolean Sinner, 23, a one-time US Open winner and
two-time Aussie Open champ, has said he is "not afraid" of
playing again after the clostebol steroid affair but wants to
see what level he is at.
