An Indian delegation is in Italy these days as part of the 'Network of Excellence' project, funded by Maeci, dedicated to the protection, conservation, and enhancement of cultural heritage. The Indian experts are visiting various operational activities in our country at sites of cultural interest and laboratories specialised in restoration, as well as sharing experiences with Italian colleagues.
The visit is part of the bilateral collaborative project 'Restoration and Environmental Impacts on Cultural Heritage Monuments: An Indo-Italian Collaboration to Advance Knowledge and Innovation', which aims to promote the exchange of experience and expertise in the conservation of monuments between institutions, experts and operators of the two countries.
The institutions involved include, for Italy, the Ca'Foscari University of Venice, the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the Municipality of Venice and the Lagoon, the Istituto Centrale per il Restauro and the private company Nedir Srl Plasma & Polimers; for India, the Archaeological Survey of India, the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur and the Indian Institute of Technology in Roorkee.
The constructive synergy between these various actors from the two countries was facilitated by, among others, the active encouragement of Professor Sergio Ledda, scientific officer of the Italian Embassy in India.
