Italy will be the 'Country of Honour' at the 38th edition of the 'Salón de Gourmets' in Madrid, Spain's leading trade fair dedicated to 'quality gastronomy'. This was announced in a press release by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Spain (Ccis), according to which this event, scheduled from 7 to 10 April, is 'an unmissable appointment for professionals in the food and beverage sector
food and drink'.
The 'Salón de Gourmets' will be hosted by the Ifema exhibition space, where 100,000 local and international professionals from the gastronomic sector are expected to attend, representing different segments such as restaurant, hospitality, catering, distribution and specialised trade.
The Ccis also explains that the exhibition space reserved for Italy, called 'Area Italia', will see the participation of 20 Italian companies, spread over an area of more than 350 square metres, whose stands will present products such as dry and fresh pasta, wines, truffle-based foods, coffee, liqueurs, cheeses, cold cuts, sauces, preserves and baked goods.
Currently, Italy is the sixth largest supplier of agri-food and beverage products to Spain, with a sales volume of more than EUR 2.9 billion in 2024, representing an annual growth of 8% and an increase of more than 77% in five years.
