The Ambassador of Italy in Sofia, Marcello Apicella, met with the Director of the Bulgarian National History Museum, Prof. Boni Petrunova, for an exchange aimed at exploring future opportunities for cooperation between the Museum, the Italian Embassy, the Italian Cultural Institute in Sofia and the Italian National Museum System. The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute, Maria Mazza, and the Deputy Head of Mission, Edoardo Di Paolo.
During the meeting, Director Petrunova and the Ambassador highlighted the numerous testimonies of the intense exchanges that in ancient, medieval and modern times characterised the civilisations that followed one another in the two countries. There was a shared reflection on the importance of protecting the architectural heritage and the interventions needed to hand it down intact to future generations. A theme to which Sistema Italia in Bulgaria has dedicated particular attention by creating the International Forum 'History and Future - Unesco Sites in Italy and Bulgaria'.
