The father of Eluana Englaro, a young
woman left in a vegetative state after a car crash for whom he
fought fo 17 years to suspended treatment that finally came in
2009, said the case of Indi Gregory, an eight-month-old
incurably ill British girl given Italian citizenship in a bid to
bring her to a Rome hospital, was "another tragedy" and the key
question was to establish who should decide in these cases.
The case of Indi Gregory 'is another tragedy of responsibility
that needs to be clarified universally. We need to establish who
has the final word," said Beppino Englaro.
"Let's be clear," Englaro added, "I don't want to be wise and
teach anyone anything, but the whole world should clarify these
things once and for all, and cases like this should not exist.
But I know it is pure utopia".
