Justice Minister Carlo Nordio said
Thursday that some ethnic groups have different sensibilities
towards women as he commented on a new wave of femicides in
Italy.
"It is illusory (to think) that criminal intervention, which
already exists and must be maintained to assert the authority of
the State, can resolve the situation," Nordio said during a
visit to Salerno.
"Unfortunately, parliament and the judiciary can only reach
certain limits when it comes repressing these events, which are
probably rooted in an absolute lack, not only of civic
education, but also of respect towards people, especially with
regard to young people and adults from ethnic groups who may not
have our sensitivity towards women".
