The head of the Italian Footballers Association, Damiano Tommasi, said Wednesday he hoped a government decree curbing advertising for gambling succeeds. "The halt to gambling advertising is the right choice," said Tommasi, a former AS Roma and Italy midfielder.
"If it was up to me, I wold put on deterrent ads," he said.
Italy has seen a surge in gambling addiction in recent years despite a drop in disposable income.
