Juventus was not fair in its dealings
on players' salaries, agents and partners, prosecutors said in
winding up their probe ahead of filing charges against the Serie
A giants Wednesday.
In the probe into the Turin club's balance sheets, alleged
irregularities took place in which ex-chairman Andrea Agnelli
and other former executives are probed and which has led to Juve
being deducted 15 points in Serie A this season.
They were docked the points by an Italian Soccer Federation
(FIGC) tribunal for allegedly inflating earnings from transfer
dealings in their balance sheets.
The FIGC prosecutor's office, ANSA learned Wednesday, has just
notified Juventus of the closure of the investigation into the
so-called 'salary, partnership and agent manoeuvre': in the
deed, prosecutor Giancarlo Chinè charges the Bianconeri with
violating the principle of fair play (article 4.1) for the three
strands.
The objection is added to the capital gains issue, for which a
judgement of legitimacy of the Collegio di Garanzia of the
Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) on the 15-point penalty for the
Bianconeri is expected on 19 April.
On today's three strands, Juve now have two weeks to present
their counter-arguments.
The positions of the six clubs (Sampdoria, Atalanta, Sassuolo,
Udinese, Bologna and Cagliari) who have negotiated, signed or in
any case agreed on "confidential agreements in market
transactions without filing the federal forms and/or providing
for the filing of documents containing agreements different from
those concluded" will be evaluated at the conclusion of the
investigations underway by the judiciary, according to the
position of the FIGC prosecutor's office on the partnership
strand contested today against Juventus.
Juve "believes it has correctly applied the relevant
international accounting principles, as well as having operated
in full respect of the principle of sporting loyalty"., said a
note from the club, which received, as anticipated by ANSA, the
notification of the closure of the investigation by the FIGC
Prosecutor's Office into the payroll manoeuvre, the relations
between the club and certain sports agents and alleged
partnership relations with other clubs.
Juventus reaffirmed that it has acted correctly, "by virtue of
the reasons already illustrated, inter alia,in the annual
financial report as at 30 June 22 and in the six-monthly
financial report as at 31 December 22".
