More than 200 Italian soldiers
from the Kfor reserve have arrived in Kosovo, where they will
temporarily support the NATO mission in the coming months to
strengthen its activities in support of peace and stability.
Breaking the news in a statement, Kfor reports that the Italian
soldiers, belonging to the mechanized infantry brigade
'Sassari,' will carry out a range of activities together with
Kfor troops, and will be deployed in response to "any relevant
security developments, including the election period." Election
campaigning has kicked off in Kosovo in recent days ahead of the
parliamentary elections scheduled for Feb. 9.
