According to Commission data,
Italy spent 21.61 billion on State aid in 2023, including 7.5
billion under the Temporary Crisis Framework to support the
economy in response to Russia's aggression against Ukraine, 1.79
billion in Covid aid, and 12.33 billion in other aid. It ranks
third in the EU, far behind Germany, which spends more than
twice as much on aid as Italy, 50.59 billion: 13.53 billion with
the Temporary Framework, 1.55 billion in Covid aid, and 35.51
billion in other. France follows with 36.43 billion in aid, 1.6
billion under the Temporary Framework, and 4.61 billion for
Covid.
