The main union of private sector
workers, Gsee, and the public sector workers' union, Adedy,
called a 24-hour general strike in Greece today to demand wage
increases, collective labour agreements, and government measures
to alleviate the housing crisis and inflation, the Ana-mpa
agency reported.
The general strike, the second since the beginning of the
year, has impacted a wide range of industries, including
transport.
Flight cancellations are expected due to the strike's
participation by air traffic controllers, as well as disruptions
to Athens metro services. Many ferries will remain docked at the
port because the Panhellenic Federation of Seafarers (Pno) has
joined the strike.
