Mediobanca said Monday that it was
launching a 6.3-billion-euro bid to take over Banca Generali, a
wealth management firm controlled by Italian insurance giant
Generali.
Mediobanca, which itself is the target of a takeover bid by
Monte Paschi di Siena (MPS), said it was offering its 13.1%
stake in Generali to gain control of Banca Generali.
The share price of Banca Generali gained 6.7% in early trading
on Monday while Mediobanca's was up 1.48% and Generali's lost
1.19%.
