Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected
the first American pope on Thursday.
Chicago-born Augustinian ex missionary Prevost, 69, who spent
much of his working life in Peru, has taken the name Leo XIV,
the next Leo after one known for drafting Church teaching on
labour and the world of work.
