The President Italian Partisans
association ANPI Gianfranco Pagliarulo on Monday made an appeal
to focus on common ground amid tension with Italy's Jews over
its stance on Israel.
The Milanese Jewish Community snubbed a Holocaust Remembrance
Day event in the city on Monday due to ANPI having described the
war in Gaza as a genocide.
'I make an appeal, not just for today but for the future,
starting this 25 April which will be the 80th anniversary of the
Liberation," Pagliarulo said referring to Italian Liberation
Day.
"I appeal for us to overcome prejudice and preconceived opinions
and come together to celebrate moments we have always had in
common.
"ANPI has always been a lead player at Shoah commemorations and
it always will be, regardless of any controversy".
