An expert appointed by the State attorney's office in Milan probing the death of Ramy Elgaml, a 19-year-old who died on November 24 while being chased by Carabinieri police, said a video filmed by a witness with his phone has been cancelled and can't be retrieved, investigative sources said Monday.
The video filmed by a witness when the scooter driven by Ramy's friend, Fares Bousidi, 22, crashed was cancelled, according to the report signed by Marco Tinti, the expert witness appointed by prosecutors to determine whether the phone had been tampered with, the sources said.
Investigators are in possession of footage showing the Carabinieri officers involved in the chase as they approach a youth who appears to filming the scene of the accident and apparently order him to erase it, according to investigative sources.
In his report, Tinti said he found evidence on the cell phone that the video's frames had been cancelled, the same sources explained.
