Audit Court President Guido Carlino
on Friday highlighted the challenges the government faces in
responsible management of Italy's finances given the difficult
geopolitical, social and economic situation.
"The uncertain evolution of the macroeconomic framework and the
pressing geopolitical emergencies call for a timely response to
the challenges on the economy and public accounts management
front," Carlino said at the ceremony.
"The need for increasingly careful use of public money and
choice of priorities amid elements exposed a fragile economic
and social situation must find a balance on a very narrow path,
aimed at guaranteeing the process of rebalancing the accounts
and a gradual reduction of the debt-to-GDP ratio", he explained.
