inauguration of the European Capital of Culture, Gorizia-Nova
Gorica, is extraordinary also because it is the first time in
Europe that the European Commission gives two cities, moreover
belonging to two different states, this important recognition."
This was recalled by the mayor of Gorizia, Rodolfo Ziberna, just
over two weeks before the inauguration of Go!2025, which will be
attended by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
"Easy? Absolutely not," added the first citizen. "Difficult? And
how. But we have already won the moment we put together two
cities, two states, different laws, different regulations, in
the first borderless European capital. We were, as the two heads
of state say, a testimony in Italy, Europe and the world of how,
if you want to do it, you can do it."
