Italian Ambassador Carlo Formosa took part in Kiev in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War on the European front on 8 May 1945. In the presence of President Volodymyr Zelensky and the highest offices of state, the ceremony commemorated the more than eight million Ukrainians who fell in the victorious struggle against Nazism, who were part of the Soviet army, members of the allied forces, and active in the partisan formations. Tribute was also paid to those who gave their lives in the ongoing conflict, in defence of Ukrainian freedom and independence.
