The Ambassador of Italy to Serbia, Luca Gori, met today with the new Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Bela Balint. The focus of the talks was the strengthening of scientific cooperation between Italy and Serbia, the application of the two bilateral protocols on research and innovation in force, the most recent signed in March 2023, and the new joint projects between Italian and Serbian institutions in the research and innovation sector approved last March. The possibility of realising a new bilateral scientific forum in the coming months was also discussed.
"Serbia plays a leading role at the regional level in the field of research, technological development and innovation. Moreover, our countries share the same priorities in the field of science and innovation: AI, biotechnology, agritech, green and energy transition. Italy is betting strongly on cooperation in these sectors because we are convinced that they play a central role in strengthening our bilateral economic relations,' said Ambassador Gori. "In recent years, thanks mainly to the initiatives of Minister Bernini, we have worked hard," Gori added, "to strengthen scientific cooperation between Rome and Belgrade. We intend to continue in the direction traced by fostering cooperation and the exchange of expertise, with the hope of realising a new Forum dedicated to science and innovation in Belgrade in the autumn'.
